rsz_0.jpg“Outside shingling is underway” said Owner’s Project Manager Peter Koczera.

Despite the bone-chilling cold the crews are hard at work installing sheetrock, electrical, plumbing and HAC systems. Barr General Contractors are very confident of meeting the June completion date. Exterior work is clipping right along.

Meanwhile, the septic leaching field is in the final stages of completion, “just waiting for final inspection,” Koczera said. “It’s just like the one for your home, only a little bigger.”

The slightly-raised leaching field takes into consideration the high water table that originally plagued early construction of the footings and foundation, and required the installation of a powerful sump-pump system to keep the basement dry.

A great way to brighten your winter day.

The Tiverton Arts Council is sponsoring an exhibition that began Sunday, January 17, and will run through Wednesday, February 24. A reception was held on opening day at the Tiverton Town Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. The public was invited, and visitors and their friends had a chance to meet many of the exhibiting regional artists.

This exhibition is anything but typical.

rsz_1.jpgThe Westport Land Conservation Trust kicked off their winter walk series on January 17th with a ramble through the recently expanded Herb Hadfield conservation property.

Land Trust Director Peggy Stevens announced this past December the addition of 53 acres to the existing 50 acre Hadfield parcel, bringing total acreage to 103 acres.

A good sized group joined the WLCT Director for the January jaunt along snow-dappled trails, both marked and unmarked, that run through the thick woods of the Hadfield conservation area.

Several in the group brought their leashed dogs as companions.

“It was a great day to get out for a walk and shrug off the winter doldrums,” Stevens said. Stevens, who led the walk, is pictured left in the orange coat.

The 100+ acre property stretches between Adamsville Road and Cornell Road along the historic Angeline Brook.

Call (508) 636-9228 for more information on future walks.

Their next scheduled event is The Long Walk on Sunday, February 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Slocum’s River Reserve, Horseneck Road, Dartmouth. Before watching the Super Bowl, stretch your legs on this 4.5 mile walk across protected land from Slocum’s River Reserve to the Buzzard’s Bay Brewery with Trustee’s Education Coordinator Linton Harrington. Transportation will be provided back to your car.

Call (508) 636-9228 to register in advance for this winter event.
