workshops. EverythingWestport.com Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Now elephants
have been known to perform Bakasana (Crane Pose), but horses? "The
yoga is for our human students," smiled the attractive, 33 year-old
riding instructor from Someday Stables.
"Our
focus is on teaching children, helping people overcome fear of horses, and
inspiring people to reconnect with horses in a new way. Yoga and meditation
help the student relax before doing interactive ground exercises with the
horses." Someday
Stables, located at 122 Old County Road in Westport, will be conducting
Mindfulness in Motion workshops on June 18 and July 16 from 10 - 12 noon. Mindful Horsemanship and Wellness Classes. "We
will be offering a Mindfulness in Motion workshop on June 18 and July 16,"
Orr said. "This workshop begins with a yoga and meditation practice,
followed by interactive ground exercises with the horses, intended to engage
your mind, body and spirit."
And
that is how yoga and meditation come into play. "Mindfulness
starts by noticing what we are thinking, feeling and sensing, in any given
moment," Orr said. "Our feelings allow us to communicate more clearly,
with specific intention and purpose, on the ground, in the saddle, and in our
lives." Moment of Momfulness
Gathering. On
June 25 and July 30th from 10 - 11:30 a.m. they will be having their monthly,
Moment of Momfulness Gathering. "This group is
for mothers of any age and will include time for yoga, meditation, group
discussion and parenting support," Orr said.
The
clean and well-maintained stable and riding arena are located at 122 Old
County Road, just north of the Westport High School. For
