The
Westport woman, a career firefighter/paramedic, recently opened The Amber Rose Flora & Gifts retail
florist store at 245 State Road in Westport, making her dream a reality. "My
Australian cattle dog is named Amber Rose, thus the name of the business,"
Peckham said.

Bedford is helping Ann Marie Peckham open The Amber
Rose. "We have flowers and gifts for all ages," she said. The
well-stocked shop, like so many other new businesses, shows attention to
detail with the loving touch of a new entrepreneur. The
north end shop features beautiful handcrafted Angle statues, primitive
candles and crafts, with a wide selection of etched glassware from votive
holders to personalized vases.
"Deliveries
are available to the southcoast area," Peckham said. "We
specialize in gift baskets, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, new baby,
just because, funerals, holidays, and Valentine's Day. We have great gift
ideas." And The
Amber Rose has just announced they have become a telefloraTM outlet.
"There
are a number of reasons I started this company," Peckham
said. "I have always loved designing flowers but more importantly I love
to brighten someone's day. Working in the Fire and EMS field it's hard to do
that when you often see people on the worst day of their life. I know it
means a lot to someone when they receive flowers, or a special gift. It makes
them feel cherished and you, special. I want to help you make that special
someone know they are loved." Hours
of operation are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (hours
extended during holidays.) They are also available by appointment on Monday,
Tuesday and Sunday. For

A frightfully good time at Rachel's. EverythingWestport.com Saturday, October 29, 2011 Costumed
party goers had a frightfully good time at Rachel's Lakeside last night, all
in a good cause to help fund Alzheimer's research. "Our
mother also enjoyed Halloween," Chris Earle said. "She would often attend
functions where our friend Jack Skammells played
with his band The Funky White Honkies. After our mother passed, we along with
friends decided to hold a fund raiser in her honor in order to raise money to
be contributed toward Alzheimer’s research."

for the last nine years the four sisters have been sponsoring Miss Tillie’s Halloween Costume Party,
raising thousands to fight the debilitating disease.
